The world’s your oyster if you have a car and can drive. Even though public transport makes most of the world accessible, there are always going to be places where bus and train cannot take us. Getting your car ready for going away is the first thing you need to do before embarking on a driving holiday. Making sure that each suspension bushing and internal / external bit of the vehicle is in tip top shape is of primary importance. You don’t want to spend any of your trip waiting for a recovery service should something go wrong. So, this is the first rule of the driving holiday experience.

If your going to travel outside of the UK, then you’ll need a European license and also need to brush up on the local highway code. You’ll also need insurance and breakdown cover, wherever you travel to. Wherever you choose to go, carry a spare tyre in your trunk and a basic mechanical kit. Also make sure you have maps - paper maps are invaluable when you’re out in a spot with no wifi signal, of course.
