The Beatles
The Beatles began life as a humble quartet from Liverpool and went on, then, to take the whole world by storm. ‘Beatlemania’ was evident all over the world and, to this day, the Beatles remain one of the biggest and most popular bands that ever were. John, Paul, George, and Ringo were friends, of a similar age and background, although there were subtle class differences between the four. John, for instance, despite writing, later, about being a ‘Working Class Hero’, was distinctly middle class. Brought up by his Aunt Mimi, he lost his mother at a young age, and this informed his songwriting as well as, perhaps, trademark humour. Paul was perhaps the most business-minded of the group; George was the most spiritual. Ringo was perhaps the one I would most liked to have gone out dancing with! Their talent, ambition, and sense of fun, has made them the the most famous band in history.
